Plan de rempoissonnement du lac Sofia : Conditions, protocole, conception et mise en oeuvre

In French. This document outlines a protocol for developing a fish restocking plan for Lake Sofia, a freshwater lake in Madagascar.

The aim of restocking is to enhance the ecological dynamics of this freshwater ecosystem and, in turn, strengthen the local livelihoods that depend on it—both directly (such as fishing and papyrus-based crafts) and indirectly (including agricultural irrigation). The document outlines the key steps required for a successful restocking plan, from community consultation and plan development to implementation and long‑term monitoring.

Initial GIS Analysis of Degradation in Lake Sofia and Lake Tseny, Madagascar

Research report on the sources of suspended sediment in Lake Sofia and Lake Tseny, Madagascar. The high amount of suspended sediment, in these freshwater systems is a problem as it limits the growth of healthy populations of macrophytes, invertebrates and fish.

The analysis suggests that the biggest source of this pollution is from erosion and transportation by water. Given the diffuse nature of the sediment sources across catchments, it may be necessary to adapt agricultural practices to reduce sediment influx and protect wetlands.
