This privacy notice explains how The Global Centre on Biodiversity for Climate (GCBC) will use your personal data through the GCBC Website, MetricsLed Application Portal and Mailing List. If you have any queries about the content of this privacy notice, please email GCBC@defra.gov.uk.

 

Who collects your personal data

Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) is the controller for the personal data we collect.

What personal data we collect and how it is used

GCBC Website:

  • Internet Protocol (IP) address
  • Name (and title)
  • Contact details

Name and contact details will be collected to be used in the website directory if you consent to do so.

MetricsLed Application Portal:

  • Name (and title though this is not a mandatory field)
  • Contact details
  • CVs
  • Organisation name
  • IP address
  • For organisations we capture a range information such as size, classification, country of registration/operation, organisation type, registration numbers and addresses.

This personal data will be collected as part of the registration requirement on the Metrics Led e-tendering platform for the research grant competition application process, and within the GCBC’s monitoring, evaluation and learning process, to report against the International Climate Finance Key Performance Indicators and inform the GCBC’s development. The GCBC website will publicise, and present research developed through our programming, any personal data used within this process will be anonymised prior to making it publicly available.

  • Name

  • Country
  • Organisation name
  • Job title
  • IP address

Contact details will be collected as part of signing up to the GCBC Mailing List to receive information on the programme via email and/or SMS. Country, IP Addresses, job title and organisation name will be collected to allow us to target our communications. In addition to how you use our emails, for example whether you open them and which links you click on, to understand which type of information was most engaged with.

MetricsLed Application Portal:

 

The lawful basis for processing your personal data on the MetricsLed Application Portal is due to you entering into an agreement and if successful, the performance of the agreement.

The processing of your personal data is based on consent. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing GCBC@defra.gov.uk  

 

Who we share your personal data with

We may share the personal data collected under this privacy notice with:

  • DAI Global UK – In their capacity as GCBC Fund Manager.
  • The Public – Where contact details form part of the website directory

We respect your personal privacy when responding to access to information requests. We only share information when necessary to meet the statutory requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

How long we hold personal data

We will keep your personal data for up to 3 years after the end of the GCBC. Data that has been made anonymous may be kept for longer. Personal data may be deleted earlier if no longer needed.

 

What happens if you do not provide the personal data

GCBC Website:

If you do not provide the personal data, you will not be able to be included in the website directory.

MetricsLed Application Portal:

If you do not provide the personal data, you will not be able to apply to receive GCBC grant funding.

GCBC Mailing List:

If you do not provide the personal data, you will not be able to subscribe and receive the GCBC newsletter and GCBC communications.  

Use of automated decision-making or profiling

The personal data you provide is not used for:

  • automated decision making (making a decision by automated means without any human involvement)
  • profiling (automated processing of personal data to evaluate certain things about an individual)

 

Transfer of your personal data outside of the UK

We will only transfer your personal data to another country that is deemed adequate for data protection purposes.
